Aconite 200c – For fear or Pain in Labour
Give 1 dose every half hour as required. Stop with relief.
Arnica 200c – To Reduce Labour Trauma
This should be given as an anti-trauma remedy before and after kittening/ whelping to reduce bleeding, bruising and swelling. Aids recovery of mother/ kittens/ pups and helps prevent possible infection due to trauma. Dose daily for 3 days before and 3 days after kittening / whelping.
Caulophyllum 30c – Assists Pregnancy and Labour
Can be given twice weekly during the last 2 weeks of pregnancy to assist the slackening of pelvic ligaments their by facilitating the birth. Caulophyllum will empower the uterine contractions during the second stage of labour but will also ease the dilation of the cervix during first stage. Caulophyllum eases labour pains and will facilitate expulsion of the placenta.
Pulsatilla 30c – Erratic Contractions
False labour. Erratic contractions during labour. May start well then stop. Similar to Caulophyllum. For false labour only, 1 to 3 doses are required over one day. For contractions that start then stop give one dose only then repeat only if the pattern recurs.
Sabina 12c – Retained Placenta
Required when foetal membranes have been retained, particularly if accompanied with profuse haemorrhage of bright red and rapidly clotting blood, worse from the least motion. Give one dose every 4 hours for 4 doses. Useful in repetitive early miscarriage .
Secale 12c – Retained Placenta
Retention of foetal membranes where the discharge is brownish, offensive and accompanied by a metritis. The blood oozes out. Dose 3 times daily until improved. (Pyrogen 10M – 1 dose if symptoms persist.)
Sepia 30c – Prolapse
One dose twice a day for 3 days can be helpful, but this condition must be referred to the vet for examination.
